Artist of the Day: Binary Star- Honest Expression

Binary Star’s, comprised of two ex-convicts, One Be Lo and Senim Silla, song “Honest Expression” is a refreshing, exposing song about the credibility of commercial rappers and their hardcore attitude. From the line, “Yo, I ain't hardcore, I don't pack a nine millimeter; Most a y'all gangsta rappers ain't hardcore neither; Whoever get mad, then I'm talkin' 'bout you; Claim you fear no man, but never walk without crew” to the line “This is dedicated to you hip-hop hypocrites; Droppin' whack songs, like you don't give a shit; I ain't got nothin' against nobody trying to make a decent living; It ain't the money that's the issue; Only if that's the reason why these cats ain't makin' decent music; That's when I got beef wit' you”, Binary Star exposes the hypocrisy behind many of current day’s rappers. Check it out.

Artist of the Day: Loo and Placido- Eleanor Reggae

French remixer, producer and DJ duo, Loo and Placido have taken the original vocals from “Eleanor Rigby” by the Beatles and combined it with a reggae beat. They successfully have taken the sounds of the tropical, warm climate Carribean and combined it with the dreary, rainy words of Paul McCartney’s “Eleanor Rigby”. This  usually depressing song, takes on a new, slightly more jovial tone with a twangy guitar, hard hitting bass and relaxing drum beat. Check this artist out today www.looandplacido.com.

Artist of the Day: Blackalicious- Alphabet Aerobics

Potentially better than Papoose’s “Alphabetical Slaughter”, Blackalicious has recorded what may be one of the coolest, most impressive concept rap songs ever to be created. Comprised of rapper Gift of Gab and DJ Chief Xcel, the duo shows its rapping capability through an entertaining, fast paced rap involving all 26 letters of the alphabet from A-Z. This amazing rap, combined with Eloi Collective’s (http://eloicollective.com/)music video, proves to be one of most entertaining concept rap songs out there today.

Artist of the Day: Rhymefest Ft. Ol' Dirty Bastard- "Build Me Up"

Rhymefest ft Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s “Build Me Up” combines the ever popular “Build Me Up Buttercup” by The Foundations (Sung by ODB, this time) with modern day lyrics involving the struggles of getting with a woman. Rhymefest, co-writer for “Jesus Walks” and long time close friend of Kanye West, has been featured on Nick Cannon’s Wild’n Out, where he actually called out the young celebrity in the Wildstyle portion of the show. His line was as follows:  “The Black Team, a real hard team to deal with, what the hell is this? A little baby Will Smith? I don’t understand, by all accounts, Nick Cannon, get out of here, you need to Roll…Bounce!” Rhymefest has released two albums and five mixtapes since his start in 2006, check him out today.
